예수님께서는 "사람이 물과 성령으로 나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라" (요한복음 3:5) 라고 말씀하셨습니다. 여기서 물은 세례를 의미하며, 더 나아가 회개와 죄 사함을 전하는 예수님을 통한 하나님의 말씀을 뜻합니다. 성령은 눈에 보이지 않지만, 그 열매를 통해 알 수 있습니다. 또한, 예수님께서는 "하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라" (요한복음 3:16) 라는 말씀처럼, 모든 믿는 자에게 영생을 주시기 위해 인자가 들려야 한다고 말씀하셨습니다.

니고데모의 대답은 성경에 기록되어 있지 않지만, 이후 그의 행적을 통해 예수님의 말씀을 믿고 따랐음을 알 수 있습니다. 그는 공의회에서 예수님을 변호했고, 예수님을 장사 지낼 때 값비싼 몰약과 침향을 가져와 장례를 치렀습니다. 니고데모가 예수님을 찾아와 복음을 들었던 것처럼, 구원은 우리의 열심으로 얻어지는 것이 아니라 하나님께서 주시는 선물입니다. 그러므로 우리는 복음을 전하여 주변 사람들에게 구원의 기회를 나누어야 합니다.

Today, February 6, 2026, the pastor's sermon during the early morning prayer service focused on the passage from John chapter 3. It was about Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a member of the Jewish ruling council, who came to Jesus at night to ask questions. Nicodemus acknowledged that the miracles Jesus performed could only come from God and expressed his desire to know who Jesus was.

Jesus said, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit" (John 3:5). Here, water signifies baptism and, furthermore, the word of God through Jesus, conveying repentance and forgiveness of sins. The Holy Spirit is invisible, but we can recognize it through its fruits. Also, Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16), stating that the Son of Man must be lifted up so that all who believe may have eternal life.

Nicodemus's response is not recorded in the Bible, but his subsequent actions reveal that he believed and followed Jesus's words. He defended Jesus in the council and brought costly myrrh and aloes to bury Jesus. Just as Nicodemus came to Jesus and heard the gospel, salvation is not earned through our efforts but is a gift from God. Therefore, we must share the gospel and offer the opportunity of salvation to those around us.

니고데모처럼 우리도 예수님을 만나 변화될 수 있으며, 받은 은혜를 나누는 삶을 통해 주위 사람들에게 구원의 기회를 전하는 것은 사랑의 실천입니다 (요한복음 3:16, 마태복음 5:16).
