오늘 2026년 2월 4일, 새벽 기도 시간에는 요한복음 2장에 나오는 가나의 혼인 잔치에 대해 깊이 생각했습니다. 목사님께서는 요한복음에만 기록된 이 혼인 잔치가 예수님의 첫 번째 기적을 보여주는 중요한 사건이라고 강조하셨습니다. 바이런은 "물이 그 주인을 만나자 얼굴이 붉어졌다"라고 이 장면을 시적으로 표현했습니다.

예수님께서 광야에서 돌로 떡을 만들라는 시험을 받으신 것과는 대조적으로, 물로 포도주를 만드신 기적은 예수님이 창조주 하나님이심을 드러냅니다. 제자들은 이 기적을 통해 하나님의 영광을 보고 예수님이 하나님의 아들이시며 구원자이심을 믿게 되었습니다. 요한복음에서 이 사건을 '기적'이 아닌 '표적'이라고 부르는 이유가 여기에 있습니다. "예수께서 이 표적을 갈릴리 가나에서 행하여 그의 영광을 나타내시매 제자들이 그를 믿으니라" (요한복음 2:11).

예수님의 어머니 마리아가 잔치에 술이 떨어진 것을 알리고 예수님께 도움을 청한 것은 단순한 부탁이 아니었습니다. 마리아는 종들에게 예수님이 시키시는 대로 순종하라고 지시했습니다. 이는 "무엇이든지 그가 너희에게 말하는 대로 하라" (요한복음 2:5)라는 말씀처럼, 우리가 예수님의 말씀에 온전히 순종해야 함을 보여줍니다.

예수님과 마리아, 그리고 제자들이 손님으로 초대받았지만, 그 잔치의 진정한 주인이 되셨습니다. 우리 삶 속에서 예수님을 손님처럼 대하고 있지는 않은지 돌아봐야 합니다. 예수님을 세상의 주인일 뿐 아니라 우리 인생의 주인으로 모시고, 우리가 이해하기 어렵더라도 그분의 말씀을 믿고 순종할 때, 놀라운 변화와 기적을 경험할 수 있습니다. "네 마음을 다하여 여호와를 신뢰하고 네 명철을 의지하지 말라. 네 모든 길에서 그를 인정하라 그리하면 그가 네 길을 지도하시리라" (잠언 3:5-6).

Today, February 4, 2026, during the early morning prayer, I meditated on the wedding at Cana in John chapter 2. The pastor emphasized that this wedding, recorded only in the Gospel of John, is an important event showing Jesus' first miracle. Byron poetically described this scene as, "The water saw its Master and blushed."

In contrast to Jesus being tempted in the wilderness to turn stones into bread, the miracle of turning water into wine reveals that Jesus is the Creator God. Through this miracle, the disciples saw God's glory and came to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior. This is why the Gospel of John calls this event a 'sign' rather than a 'miracle.' "This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him" (John 2:11).

When Jesus' mother, Mary, informed him that the wedding had run out of wine and asked for his help, it was not a simple request. Mary instructed the servants to obey whatever Jesus told them to do. This shows that we must fully obey Jesus' words, as in, "Whatever he says to you, do it" (John 2:5).

Jesus, Mary, and the disciples were invited as guests, but they became the true masters of the feast. We need to reflect on whether we are treating Jesus as a guest in our lives. When we invite Jesus not only as the Lord of the world but also as the Lord of our lives, and believe and obey His words even if we find them difficult to understand, we can experience amazing changes and miracles. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

가나의 혼인 잔치 묵상은 예수님께서 우리 삶의 주인이 되실 때 놀라운 변화와 기적을 경험할 수 있다는 것을 깨닫게 해주는 귀한 시간이었네요 (요한복음 2:1-11). 예수님을 손님처럼 대하지 않고 인생의 주인으로 모셔 그분의 말씀을 믿고 순종할 때, 우리의 삶은 더욱 풍성해질 것입니다. 주님의 사랑 안에서 늘 기쁨과 평안이 가득하시길 축복합니다.
