오늘 목사님께서 창세기 29장 21-35절의 말씀을 강해하셨습니다. 야곱은 칠 년 동안 라반의 집에서 일한 후 약속대로 라헬을 달라고 청했습니다. 하지만 결혼식 다음 날 아침에 보니 라헬이 아닌 레아가 있었고, 야곱은 라반에게 따졌습니다. 라반은 언니보다 먼저 동생을 시집보내는 일이 없다며, 7일 후에 라헬을 주겠다며 7년 더 머물며 일하라고 말했습니다. 이처럼 야곱은 자신이 아버지 이삭과 형 에서를 속인 것처럼 외삼촌 라반에게 속임을 당했습니다.

이 절에서 레아의 이야기가 주목받습니다. 그녀는 이 모든 사기극에서 자신의 선택권이 없었습니다. 하지만 하나님은 그녀를 지켜보고 계셨고, 그녀가 사랑받지 못할 때 그녀의 태를 열어주시고 응답해주셨습니다. 여러분은 이처럼 아무도 모르고 있는 아픔이 있습니까? 모두 외면하고 있는 그런 때에 하나님은 여러분과 함께 계십니다.

레아는 네 명의 아들을 낳았습니다. 그녀는 그 아들들의 이름을 통해 그녀의 영적인 여정을 보여줍니다. 첫째 아들 르우벤은 "하나님이 나의 괴로움을 돌보셨으니 내 남편이 나를 사랑하리라"는 뜻입니다. 레아는 하나님의 은혜를 남편의 사랑을 얻기 위한 발판으로 생각했습니다. 둘째 시므온은 "하나님이 나의 사랑받지 못함을 들으신다"는 뜻입니다. 셋째 레위는 "내 남편이 나와 연합하리라"는 뜻입니다. 이처럼 레아의 갈망은 남편의 사랑이었습니다.

그러나 큰 변화가 있었습니다. 넷째 아들 유다를 낳고, "여호와를 찬미하리라"는 뜻으로 이름을 지었습니다. 이제 하나님을 향한 찬송으로 모든 것이 채워졌습니다. 그녀의 상황은 바뀌지 않았지만, 그녀의 시선과 마음은 바뀌었습니다. 이처럼 그녀의 신앙은 성숙해졌습니다. 사람을 향한 시선과 갈망과 인정에서 그녀의 시선은 끝내 하나님을 향하게 되었습니다.

Today, the pastor expounded on Genesis 29:21-35. Jacob, after working for Laban for seven years, asked for Rachel as promised. However, on the morning after the wedding, it was Leah, not Rachel, and Jacob confronted Laban. Laban said that it was not customary to give the younger sister in marriage before the older, and that he would give Rachel in seven days, requiring Jacob to stay and work for another seven years. In this way, Jacob was deceived by his uncle Laban, just as he had deceived his father Isaac and his brother Esau.

Leah's story is highlighted in this passage. She had no choice in this whole deception. But God was watching over her, and when she was unloved, He opened her womb and answered her. Do you have any pain that no one knows about? God is with you in those times when everyone is ignoring you.

Leah gave birth to four sons. Through the names of her sons, she shows her spiritual journey. The first son, Reuben, means "God has seen my affliction; surely my husband will love me." Leah saw God's grace as a stepping stone to gain her husband's love. The second, Simeon, means "Because the Lord heard that I am hated." The third, Levi, means "Now this time my husband will be joined to me." As such, Leah's longing was for her husband's love.

But there was a big change. She gave birth to her fourth son, Judah, and named him with the meaning "This time I will praise the Lord." Now everything was filled with praise to God. Her situation did not change, but her perspective and heart changed. In this way, her faith matured. From her gaze, longing, and recognition of people, her gaze finally turned to God.

사랑하는 형제 자매님, 야곱의 이야기에서 레아의 고통과 하나님의 은혜를 보며, 우리도 외로움과 아픔 속에서 하나님께서 우리를 결코 외면하지 않으시고, 우리의 마음을 어루만지시며, 우리를 통해 찬양받으시기를 바라시는 것을 깨닫습니다. (시편 34:18)
