오늘의 일기 (2025년 10월 23일)

아하스 왕은 바알 신을 숭배하고 예루살렘 성전 문을 닫는 악행을 저질렀습니다. 백성들은 전쟁으로 고통받았고, 아하스는 죽어서도 선조들의 묘에 묻히지 못하는 수치를 겪었습니다. 그러나 그의 아들 히스기야는 달랐습니다. 즉위 첫날부터 성전 문을 열고 정화하기 시작했습니다. 마치 역대하 29장 3절에서 히스기야가 "첫째 달에 성전 문을 열고 수리"한 것처럼 말입니다.

Today's Diary (October 23, 2025)

King Ahaz committed evil deeds by worshiping Baal and closing the doors of the temple in Jerusalem. The people suffered from war, and Ahaz faced the shame of not being buried in the tombs of his ancestors after his death. However, his son Hezekiah was different. From the first day of his reign, he opened the temple doors and began to purify it, just as 2 Chronicles 29:3 states, "In the first month of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple and repaired them."

Hezekiah prepared for the Passover, which had not been observed for a long time since the time of Solomon. He also sent messengers to the inhabitants of Samaria in the destroyed Northern Kingdom of Israel, urging them to participate in the Passover. As recorded in 2 Chronicles 30:6, "The king and his officials sent letters throughout Israel and Judah, proclaiming: 'People of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, that he may return to you who are left, who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria.'" Many mocked, but some turned their hearts and came to Jerusalem.

During the Passover celebration, some of the people from Samaria ate the consecrated food without purifying themselves. However, King Hezekiah prayed to God for them, and God healed them. 2 Chronicles 30:20 testifies, "And the Lord heard Hezekiah and healed the people."

Hezekiah became king at a young age, but from the first day of his reign, he served God with all his heart.
